“Being Christ, not just Christ-like”

Our week in Greenville has come to a close. God did many incredible things this week in and through our students, adults, staff and church plants. In Church Plant Training with Walt Tanner the church groups came up with a plan of how to reach their communities before they left Greenville and have been challenged to make it happen in the six months after returning home.  During the Gathering, Ken Addison, our Project Coordinator, challenged the students to find accountability and to make this week a turning point in their lives. He and Walt also challenged the students to not just be Christ-like, but to be Christ in their communities. Several decisions were made during the evening worship services:

  • Rededication – 49
  • Commitment to full time service – 1
  • Summer/Semester Missions – 6
  • Interest in Church Planting – 10

Ministry this week was amazing. All the students and leaders gave 100% on the mission field. Because of their efforts, the city of Greenville and surrounding towns will never be the same. The students gave to a missions offering and all $1587.82 will be given directly to the nine church plants they worked with. Their impact will not be forgotten.

  • Presentations of the Gospel – 1023
  • Tracts/Bibles handed out – 461/82
  • Salvations – 23

Please continue to pray for the groups that came this week and the church plants we ministered with.

Going Strong in Greenville

No slowing down for this group of students and leaders, energy and passion is at an all time high today. Groups are prepped and ready to go out to their ministry sites everyday with a heart for serving the city of Greenville and surrounding towns.

Hailing from Fulton, Kentucky, the FBC Fulton group is paired with Encounter this week in Greenville. They are doing a variety of different community ministry projects. Yesterday when we visited they were creating candy bouquets to be passed out to 51 different businesses in their community.

Memorial Heights is our group from Maryland. They have been paired with Real Life Church in Williamston, a town right outside Greenville. This week they have been putting on a vacation bible school in a local park. They have had several children show up and hear the Gospel through bible stories and the love our students have shown.

Hepzibah Baptist Church from Talladega, AL is paired with Oak Pointe Church. Our ministry coordinator this week Mike Morris is the lead pastor/church planter of Oak Pointe. Together this group has been putting on a sports camp in a local high school. They enlisted high school basketball players to help teach about 30 or more kids in the area.

Piney Grove, from Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, has paired up with Radiant to serve this week in Greenville. The students were geared up to put on a vacation bible school for the kids in the community surrounding the church. While all this goes on the church is renovating their building.

Dublin from North Carolina is paired with Kaleidoscope in Spartanburg. Kaleidoscope is trying to reach multi-racial groups. Their focus this week is the Chinese people of their community. Tonight the students helped put on a block party were several families showed up. There were bounce houses, tons of food and the love of Jesus for everyone!

Lifepoint from Raleigh, NC is paired with Origins in downtown Greenville. Origins meets in the coffee and ice cream shop Spill the Beans in downtown right next to the famous suspension bridge. The students in this group are also doing community ministries like candy bouquets and other servant evangelism tasks.

Please continue to pray for these church groups and church plants as they finish up tomorrow and that they continue the mission of the Gospel in their hometowns.

Giving in Greenville

P2 Greenville has started off with a bang. All of our church groups arrived ready and willing to serve and to take whatever was thrown their way. Our Project Coordinator Ken Addison started us off great by speaking to the students about our Unless theme. Walt Tanner, who is also one of our church planters this week, then taught the participants about Church Planting.

Today was also the first day of ministry sites. All of our groups headed out with tons of energy to embrace and love on the city of Greenville.  First Baptist Church of Pikeville was paired with The Well in Simpsonville, SC. They are doing different types of community ministry this week. Today they put on a free car wash in the community.

New Salem Baptist Church is working with Capstone Church in Fountain Inn, SC. They’ve paired up to do a sports camp this week.  While expecting only 15-20 kids, the group was overwhelmed by 80 and amazed at God’s faithfulness.

Solitude Baptist Church is paired with Element Church from Woodruff, SC. Today the students were renovating a jungle gym in the community where the church is located. They also rented and set up blow-ups for the neighborhood kids to play on.

It is evident already that God is moving here in Greenville. Please pray for the students, Group Leaders, and church plants we are working with this week.
